I made this guide in response to a college design school application prompt: clarify complex information. The deliverables included both the guide and an accompanying video that documents my process
I recently had bought a camera on craigslist. I tried reading the camera’s 170-page manual, but was overwhelmed by all the information. As my project, I created a simplified manual to help beginners understand basic photography concepts and use them with the camera (the Ricoh GR3). This project challenged me to consider how typography, visuals, and hierarchy all work together to effectively convey information. The guide was my first stab at book design, and was a great way to learn how to use InDesign and explore concepts of information design. I shot all the photos below and within the guide with the GR3.
