This project was built as a birthday gift for my dad and is, well, a machine that plays sound. Each of the nine front buttons triggers an obscure sound clip to play off a speaker placed behind the front white grill, each relating to an inside joke with my family. All of the electronics are inside the wood-infused 3D-printed enclosure, including a rechargeable battery that charges through a micro-USB port, an Adafruit soundboard programmed through any computer, and an on/off switch.
This project greatly challenged my technical knowledge and pushed me to figure out how to pull a variety of electronic components together into a cohesive product. I also put great effort into the visual aesthetic of the sound machine, inspiring the look with the work of Dieter Rams.
